Donation Refund Policy

Thank you for supporting HopeScan Initiative, Inc. Every gift advances our mission of bringing early cancer detection and screening to underserved communities in sub-Saharan West Africa. Because donations are used as soon as they are received, all gifts are generally non-refundable.

 

When we will refund a donation

We will refund a donation if any of the following applies, and you notify us within 30 days of the charge:

 
  • The donation was made in error (for example, a duplicate charge or the wrong amount)
  • The donation was made without your authorization
  • There was a technical problem with our payment system that caused an incorrect charge
 

How to request a refund

Email info@hopescan-initiative.org with:

 
  • Your full name as it appeared on the donation
  • The date of the donation and the amount
  • A brief description of the reason for the refund request
 

We will respond within three business days and, if the request qualifies, issue the refund to the original payment method. Refunds typically appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.

 

Recurring (monthly) donations

You can cancel a monthly recurring donation at any time by emailing us at info@hopescan-initiative.org. We will stop the next scheduled charge. Gifts already processed are not automatically refunded but may be refunded under the criteria above.

 

Tax receipts

If a donation is refunded, any tax receipt we issued for that gift is void. You should not claim a refunded donation as a charitable deduction.

 

Chargebacks and disputes

If you do not recognize a charge from HopeScan, please contact us before filing a chargeback with your bank. A direct refund is almost always faster, and chargebacks cost the charity money in fees.
