Dr. Donna Trollinger brings a rare combination of mission-driven marketing leadership and scientific credibility to HopeScan Initiative’s leadership team. She holds a Doctorate in Cell Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has nearly two decades of experience advancing scientific and diagnostic innovations that support the scientific community and global health. Across the life sciences, she has led comprehensive marketing strategies that turn complex technologies into real-world impact, helping organizations scale reach, build trusted partnerships, and achieve measurable results.
Her personal connection to cancer—losing her father to prostate cancer and seeing early breast cancer screening save her aunt’s life—grounds her leadership in empathy and urgency. Guided by her Christian faith, Donna views this work as a calling and is deeply committed to helping build sustainable systems that expand equitable access to early cancer diagnosis across West Africa.
As Chief Commercial Officer, she will work closely with Dr. Clement, the executive
leadership team and the board to steward donor investment, expand strategic partnerships, and scale HopeScan Initiative’s long-term impact.

She has a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams, guiding organizations through growth and transformation, and translating complex science into clear, compelling value for diverse audiences.
Throughout her career, Donna has led integrated, data-driven marketing and go-to-market strategies that have accelerated adoption of cutting-edge technologies in areas including molecular diagnostics, immuno-oncology, and life science research. She is known for her ability to bridge science and strategy — turning advanced technologies into accessible solutions that expand reach, strengthen partnerships, and deliver measurable impact.
Her leadership has contributed to the success and market expansion of globally recognized organizations such as ATCC, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and BD Biosciences, where she played a key role in elevating brand presence, driving demand generation, and supporting innovation at scale.
As Chief Commercial Officer at HopeScan, Donna leads commercial and marketing operations, shaping the organization’s growth strategy and amplifying its mission. She is focused on raising awareness of the challenges associated with late-stage cancer diagnosis and limited access to timely care in underserved communities across West Africa. Through strategic partnerships, community-centered messaging, and innovative outreach, she works to expand access to early detection and strengthen pathways to care. Her work reflects a deep commitment to advancing healthcare access and ensuring that life-saving innovations reach the populations that need them most.
Donna holds a PhD in Cell Biology from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and a bachelor’s degree from Elon College.
